This volume of The Zcash Arboretum states the protocols that a Zcash wallet runs: the derivation of its keys and addresses from one seed; the discovery of its notes from the chain through an untrusted light-client server, and what that server learns; and the construction, authorisation and submission of its payments. Each protocol is stated as a definition, construction or rule, and its correctness, security or privacy guarantee as a lemma, proposition or theorem under named assumptions. The subject is the wallet of a user of the Orchard protocol who holds funds in the Ironwood pool, the sealed Orchard pool, the Sapling pool and the transparent pool; the light-client service is an abstract query and response interface, and no implementation is described. The volume assumes the Math Guide, the Crypto Guide, the Halo 2 Guide and the Consensus Guide, and cites the Ironwood Guide for every construction of the shielded protocol. It is non-normative: the Zcash Protocol Specification and the Zcash Improvement Proposals are authoritative.
